The 3rd Annual Run For Missions event will return to Haviland on Oct. 27, with their second race to take place on Nov. 8.
The Run For Missions on Oct. 27 will be a 5K and 10K race in Haviland beginning at 9 a.m. with the half-marathon race beginning at 8 a.m.
There will be an awards ceremony at about 10:45 a.m.
“The race is growing every year,” said Run For Missions Director Adam Monaghan. “Last year we had people come from all over the state and from 2 other states, actually. I am anticipating the run growing even more this year and planning for over 200 runners in the 3 events.”
The second race, a 104-mile race from Wichita to Haviland will take place on Nov. 4.
“This will be the 5th consecutive year for this event,” said Monaghan. “This runs through Pratt and into Haviland and it includes lots of people from Pratt and Haviland participating in it and helping to organize it.”
The Race For Missions benefits the Evangelical Friends Church Mid America “Run for Missions” Scholarship Fund. Since 2005, EFC-MAYM Missions has managed the scholarship fund, awarding grant scholarships to missions students.
According to their website the scholarship’s goal is “to give affirmation and support to EFC-MAYM College and Graduate students responding to a “call” to missions, intending to serve on the Friends Mission Field within five years.” For more information visit: RunForMissions.org
