The Greensburg Recreation 3rd/4th Grade football team continued their winning streak at home by defeating Kinsley last Saturday.
Greensburg was plagued by mistakes in the first half as there were several dropped snaps and three fumbles, but fortunately Greensburg was able to recover without any turnovers. The second play of the game went for an 80-yard touchdown, but was called back due to a penalty. However, they got on track and scored 4 first half touchdowns on runs by James Brack, Luke Ballard, Ridge Estes, and Connor Pore. Ballard and Caydan Pore added extra points.
The defense remained stingy as they limited Kinsley to one first half score. The second half brought two more scores as Bryson Brown ran a sweep around the left side and Brack stripped a Kinsley runner of the ball and ran it back 50 yards for Greensburg’s first defensive score of the year. Wyatt Lothman added an extra point. Kinsley was able to grab two scores with the last one coming with less than one minute to go in the game, bringing the final score to 44-22.
“This win showed we can overcome some early mistakes and still come out on top,” said Assistant Coach Jason West. “Our kids never quit and that is why we are 3-0,” Greensburg has a tough week ahead as Medicine Lodge comes to town this Saturday, Sept. 29th for a 10:00am start time. Come out and cheer the team on in their quest for a 4-0 start.
