  • Senator Mitch Holmes daughter injured in two-vehicle accident

  • Noelle Hannah Holmes, the 18-year-old daughter of Mitch Holmes, Kansas District 33 Senate-elect, was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 50 and 281 in Stafford County, Thursday morning.

  • Noelle Hannah Holmes, the 18-year-old daughter of Mitch Holmes, Kansas District 33 Senate-elect, was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 50 and 281 in Stafford County, Thursday morning.
    Holmes, St. John, was northbound on U.S. 281 when she pulled out in front of a westbound Peterbuilt semi truck driven by Christina Marie Berry, 42, Stroud OK. Stroud struck the 2006 Dodge minivan on the passenger side sending it into the north ditch where it rolled once landing on its wheels.
    Holmes was transported to Stafford County Hospital by ambulance then by air ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Her condition is currently unknown.
    Berry said she saw the van pull up to the stop sign and stop, but as she approached the intersection the van pulled out in front of her.
    "I saw it all," she said. "It was like watching a movie. I just kept thinking to myself no, no, no."
    Berry was shaken, but not injured in the accident, both she and Holmes were wearing safety restraints at he time of the accident.
    Mitch Holmes served as the state representative for Kansas District 114 before unseating incumbent Kansas District 33 Senator Ruth Teichman in the August primaries.
