Esther May (Ross) Johnson, 83, died July 13, 2012, at Home Again Senior Living. She was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Haviland, the daughter of R. Frank and Eva Cleo (Haile) Ross.
She was a homemaker and a member of Haviland Friends Church. She served in the Barclay Ladies Auxiliary, was chairwoman of the Auxiliary Quilt Committee, Kampus Bookstore Manager at Barclay College, Sunday school teacher, Christian Education director for Friends Church, and worked with the High School Y-Teen Club.
She loved, art, painting, ceramics and music.
On June 13, 1948, she married Fred R. Johnson at Friends Church in Haviland.
Survivors include: children, Robert Alan Johnson (Stephanie), Janice Kay Harder (Ron), John Mark Johnson (Cindy), Roxie Ann Anders (Lee), and Esther Rochelle Bridges (David); siblings, Eugene Ross (Alta), Francis Ross (Dorothy), Paul Ross (Patty), Ruthelma Speicher, and Warren Ross (Pat); 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haviland Friends Church, with Minister Donnie Hinshaw and David Kingrey officiating. Calling times were from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial followed in Haviland Cemetery.
