Ruth Ann Wedel, Connie Dawson and Carol Montgomery took part in a Flag Day ceremony in Baltimore, Md. that incorporated threads from the original Star Spangled Banner Flag into the 9/11 Memorial flag.
The New York Says Thank You Foundation, which has been touring the United States with the large flag that flew over Ground Zero in New York is organizing the event. The 9/11 flag also came to Greensburg following the May 4, 2007 tornado.
“Selecting these ladies to attend was a no brainer as Ruth Ann has given so much to Greensburg as well has Carol,” said Matt Deighton, who asked Wedel to attend in his place due to a family illness. “Connie being Steve's widow will play a part in the ceremony since Jeff Parness (founder of the foundation), Charlie Vithcers, and Steve connected over the Flag. I was very honored to be asked to find ladies who helped with the flag. They will do a great job in Baltimore at this historical event.”
