Why did you decided to become an educator?
I enjoy working with kids. Helping them learn and watching them succeed is very rewarding.
Who is a teacher or professor who inspired you and how?
My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Swonger was a big inspiration to me. I also learned a great deal from Sara and Myron Seitz when I was a student teacher in Ellinwood.
Who is someone in current events who you admire and why?
I admire our service men and women. They have courage and give so much of themselves in order for others to live in peace.
What are the greatest challenges in education today?
Students in our schools now are so diverse. It is a challenge to provide everything they need. A lot more students are diagnosed as needing special services in order to cope with disabilities, and many more students each year are living in poverty.
What advice can you offer for someone who wants to go into education?
Spend some time with kids and spend time in schools before you decide.
What teaching moment is most memorable?
I have many! I should have written them down, it would probably make a very funny book!
