  • Another big man for the Mavs this year, he seemed to be the perfect compliment to Odle, following him in all of the major offensive categories and excelling in a number of defensive categories.
Ardery was third in points per game (9.7) third in total season points (193) second in total field goal percentage among players with at least 100 attempts (.500), and shot second from the paint, sinking 79-of-157 (.503). Ardery made more trips to the foul line than any other player this season (62), twenty more trips than the second closest player (Montana Ralstin had 42 trips), which showed some aggressive play from the 6’5” junior sinking 35-of-62, good for a .565 average on the season.
Defensively Ardery was second in blocked shots (24), first in offensive rebounds (48), seconds in defensive rebounds (91) and second in total rebounds (139) and rebound per game (7) with a .527:1 defensive rebound ratio.
“I liked seeing his aggressiveness, but I want to see more offensive rebounds,” said one voter.
“Having a size advantage inside the paint definitely helped the Mavericks this year, and that advantage was personified by Ardery,” said another voter.
“Rustin’s a real nice kid and he works hard,” said head coach Nick Perez. “He’s got room to improve as well and that will come with off-season work. He’s been getting better every day and he’s grown a lot since last year.”
