  • Heft was the strongest offensive player for the Mavericks this year leading the team in PPG (8.9), total season points (170), assists (14), steals (36) and of players with 100+ chances was in the top four in field shooting percentage (.312).
The 5’3” sophomore also led the team in free throw attempts, toeing the line 118 times, 42 times more than the closest player (Heather Melton who had 76 season attempts) and shot a respectable .534 free throw percentage over 19 season games.
She finished the season with an offensive rebound fifth best (19), a defensive second best (62) and was third overall in total rebounds (62).
Heft had double-digit performances in 9-of-10 season contests. The Mavericks had a .777 win percentage when Heft scored in the double digits and had a .100 win percentage when Heft scored in single digits.
“It was clear that when Heft was “on”, the Mavs were in the chase for a win,” said one voter,” when other teams figured her out and could contain her, more often than not we lost those games.”
“Heft really carried the team after Headrick's injury,” said another.
“She was our most valuable player,” said Head Coach Randy Vandenhoek. “She played hard start-to-finish every game. She was aggressive on defense. Her ball handling and decision-making came a long way this year. When she wasn’t on the floor our offense was even more of a struggle.”
