  • Steve Teter, V.P. for Institutional Advancement, went home to be with Jesus on February 15, 2012 after a battle with lymphoma cancer.  The Haviland Friends Church prayed for Steve each morning and evening at 6:33.  Steve stopped breathing at 6:33 a.m. and peacefully entered glory at 6:38 a.m.
Steve graduated from Greenleaf Friends Academy in 1988 and then from Barclay College in 1993.  He pursued a career in the world of banking and finance.  He served on the Barclay College Board of Trustees shortly after his college graduation.  Nearly twenty years later he would return to Barclay College to become the V.P. for Institutional Advancement.
Steve had an ear tuned to the voice of his Lord.  For him, returning to Barclay College was a calling, not a job.  He believed God was changing the world through the students, faculty, and staff of Barclay College.  He believed that from this place, lives and therefore cultures would be changed.  So as Barclay College grew, so did the kingdom of God.  Steve was a tireless worker for the college because he believed in its mission and in all of us associated with this academic ministry.
The last time Steve and I visited before he left for the bone marrow transplant procedures he said, "I don't know how this is going to turn out but whatever happens I want God to be glorified." Throughout the traumatic months to follow that is exactly what Steve, Trina, and Joseph did.
Steve loved his wife, Trina, and reveled in his son, Joseph. He was passionate about them, as he was for his Savior.  God calls each of us to a special time and place in His plan.  Steve showed us how to be faithful to that call.
