Kris Lynn Nichols, 29, died January 19, 2012, in Gentry, Arkansas. He was born July 3, 1982 in Greensburg, the son of Ronald Duane and Glenda Sue (Johnson) Nichols. A lifetime resident of Greensburg, Kris graduated from Greensburg High School in 2000 and attended Fort Hays State University. He earned a certification as a technician for residential and commercial alternative heating. He was self-employed in this industry in Gentry, Ark. He also farmed in Kansas, which was his long-term passion. Kris loved the outdoors, often camping, hunting, and pursuing less traveled areas in the mountains. His expertise and ability in electrical/mechanical work were admired and appreciated by many. His willingness to help others and his unselfish heart will long be remembered and cherished. Kris is survived by his parents Ron and Glenda Nichols, Greensburg, two sisters LaRona Sue Miller and husband Joe, Kansas City, Missouri, and Misty Lea Nichols and husband Blake Chaffin, Nashville, Tennessee, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services and celebration of Kris' life were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Bethel Mennonite Church, Greensburg with Minister Jack Burns officiating. Burial followed in Bethel Memorial Gardens. A visitation was held 6:00-8:00 p.m. last Sunday at the church.
