Haviland- Lavonia D. Bevan, 94, died July 29, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society, Dodge City, Kansas. She was born February 28, 1916 in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Alvin and Alice Richardson Drake. Lavonia was a homemaker, artist and secretary. Raised by her maternal Grandparents, John and Cora Richardson, she grew up in Cherokee County, Kansas, graduated from Columbus High School, and had lived in Haviland, Kansas, and Dodge City since 2002.

On December 17, 1942, Lavonia married Herman Lewis Bevan in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death May 7, 2003.

Survivors include one daughter Barbara Halbgewachs, and husband Jerry, Dodge City, Kansas, three Grandchildren, Jeffrey, and wife Kathy Halbgewachs, Okawville, Illinois, Tamara and husband Joe Long, Olathe, Kansas and Jonathan and wife Stacey Halbgewachs, Ellsworth, Kansas, three Great-grandchildren Anthony, Braydon and J.T. Halbgewachs, Ellsworth.

Graveside funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Haviland Cemetery, Haviland, Kansas, with Rev. Robin Johnston presiding. The family will greet friends 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Haviland Friends Church, Haviland.
