Senator Pat Roberts this afternoon announced that President George W. Bush will visit Greensburg, Kansas on Wednesday, May 9.

“President Bush has acted quickly to help the residents of Greensburg in every possible way,” Roberts said. “As the recovery effort continues, the President wants to personally visit with the people who have survived such a horrific tragedy..”

Details of the visit have not been announced.

Roberts also spoke on the Senate floor about the Greensburg tornado, saying:

“Last Friday evening, the town of Greensburg, Kansas was literately wiped off the map by an enormous tornado. As a result of this and storms associated with the system, 12 Kansans are confirmed dead, and I fear that number may still rise, and all of the 1500 residents of Greenburg have been displaced."
